Vision

A future where First Nations communities have the tools, confidence, and support to guide their own engagement processes, influence decision-making, and ensure their voices are heard and respected at every level.

Our Services

Facilitation

Every gathering has the potential to become a turning point if the right space is created. I approach facilitation with the belief that every voice holds value, and that the process should invite honesty, respect, and understanding. Drawing from First Nations practices of circle dialogue and consensus-building, I create settings where participants feel safe to share, even when the topics are difficult. My role is not to lead the conversation for others, but to guide it in a way that keeps it focused, inclusive, and productive, so communities and organizations can arrive at decisions with clarity and confidence.

Engagement & Consultation

True engagement is about more than sharing and collecting information and sending a feedback report. It’s about building trust and relationships. I support First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities, governments, and organizations in connecting with federal, provincial, and territorial organizations and governments in a way that respects grassroots voices and priorities. This means listening deeply, creating opportunities for meaningful dialogue, and ensuring outcomes reflect what communities have shared. Whether it’s an engagement session, consultation process, a dialogue session, or a collaborative project, I work to bridge perspectives while holding space for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis knowledge and experiences to guide the path forward.

Event Planning & Coordination

Behind every successful meeting, retreat, or conference is careful planning that allows participants to focus on what matters most: the conversation itself. From coordinating small gatherings of under ten people to organizing large events with hundreds of participants, I bring experience in handling every detail. This includes booking venues, arranging travel for guest speakers, and ensuring all logistics meet both community and government requirements. By taking care of the behind-the-scenes work, I free organizations to focus on their goals, knowing the event will unfold smoothly and respectfully.

Speaking Engagements

I offer guest speaking sessions that blend lived experience, professional expertise, and Anishinaabe perspectives. Whether discussing First Nations citizenship, Gladue reports, federal service, or post-secondary experiences, my talks aim to inform, challenge, and inspire. Each presentation creates space for honest conversation, reflection, and shared learning rooted in respect and understanding.

Why Choose Debwe Maada'ookii Maamawi

1

Rooted in Anishinaabe Culture

As an Ojibway consultant and proud Anishinaabe individual, I bring not only professional expertise but also deep cultural grounding to my work. I draw on First Nations cultural protocols, practices, and customs, and seamlessly incorporate these into facilitation, engagement, and planning. This approach ensures that every process I guide is not only effective but also respectful, inclusive, and culturally relevant and safe.

2

Supporting First Nations Business

When you choose to work with me, you are directly supporting First Nations entrepreneurship. Your partnership helps strengthen First Nations-led business, opens doors for future opportunities, and affirms the value of First Nations knowledge and perspectives in professional spaces. This is more than a service, it is an investment in reconciliation and sustainable First Nations success.

3

Authenticity and Lived Experience

I bring lived experience as an Anishinaabe person with both “on-reserve” and “off-reserve” perspectives. These experiences shape how I understand and navigate the realities of First Nations communities in Canada today. Unlike firms or consultants who may only recently have claimed Indigenous identity, my authenticity comes from a lifetime of community connection, responsibility, and accountability. This grounding gives me a perspective that cannot be replicated by surface-level claims of indigeneity.

4

Professional Excellence

Alongside cultural grounding, I bring a wealth of professional skills from years of government and organizational experience to strong backgrounds in research, law, and community engagement. My services are built on reliability, attention to detail, and a commitment to creating meaningful outcomes. I balance cultural integrity with professional rigor, offering clients the best of both worlds.
